The Constitution and United States Supreme Court For The People

Updated: Mar 12, 2019

When I think about the foundations of the United States of America, I typically think about our Constitution written in 1787. I love how many pieces of old paper are so crucial for millions and millions of people to survive in a society that we are continuously making more and more just.

Along side of the Constitution, The United States has a Supreme Court. The Supreme Court is part of the Judicial branch, and is the highest court in the United States. Whatever the Supreme Court judges conclude, applies Nationally. This court is no joke. Many years ago, multiple people went through a lot of work to change the Supreme Court system to what we know today, and to show how important this court is. The building the Supreme Court is located in, shows stability, hard work, and seriousness.

The system the Supreme Court has operated with has had some minor changes, but is mainly the same for all these years. It is amazing how such a system can operate this long and this smoothly. (The videos I watched in my Media Law and Literacy class further explain why I made those two comments - links below.)

For an amendment to pass, it has to go through an entire system, which is very hard to pass through. Especially today since almost all of our fundamental rights and freedoms were directly covered many years ago, and if they were not, they can fall under certain amendments already in place.

The Constitution protects The People's rights and freedoms. The People go to the Supreme Court when there is an issue going against their rights, freedoms, and the law, in attempt to fix it. The Supreme Court goes to the Constitution for help and guidance as to what really is right and just under the United States law.

This system has been going on for years, and The People have used it for the betterment of America since 1787.
